Howard L. Hitt's Obituary
Howard Lee Hitt, 88, of Culpeper died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born May 9, 1922 in Fauquier to the late Johnny Jackson and Laurelia Cecelia Carrico Hitt.
Mr. Hitt was a veteran of the US Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
He is survived his daughter, Linda “Judy” Lee Fugate and her husband, Jim of Culpeper, his stepchildren, Margie Keavy and her husband, Paul of Pasadena, MD, Jean Montgomery of Pasadena, MD and David Smith and his wife, Cathy of Altus, AR, and two sisters, Helena Charles of Lignum and Hazel Butler of Midland, VA.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Thomas Campbell and his wife, Michelle of Port Orange, FL, Charles “Chuck” Campbell and his wife, Jennifer of Culpeper, Chris Lehner of Eden, MD, Shawn Lehner of Phoenixville, PA and Michelle Williams of Pasadena, MD, seven great grandchildren , and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen C. Hitt, and his siblings, Gladys Anderson, Peggy Eline, Harold Hitt, Thomas Hitt, Richard Hitt and Frank Hitt
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Brother Pittman officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper American Legion Post # 330 and V.F.W. Post # 2524.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the H.O.P.E. Center at Culpeper Regional Hospital, 501 Sunset Lane, Culpeper, VA 22701.
