Howard Lynnwood Gary's Obituary
Howard L. Gary, Manassas, VA, passed away on June 2, 2020. Howard was born in Atwell, Texas, grew up in Cross Plains, and attended Texas A&M for his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. After two years in the Army, Howard began his professional career as a researcher for the U.S. Forest Service, spending tours in Tempe, Arizona, Albuquerque New Mexico, and Fort Collins, Colorado. He and his first wife, Glenna, had two children, Debbie and Gerald; Glenna died in 1973, and Debbie died in 2008. He retired in 1984 and moved to Culpeper, Virginia in 1994. Howard leaves his sister Wanda Grable, of Clyde, Texas; Barbara, his wife of 45 years; stepdaughter, Jennifer Coates, son-in-law, Dave Coates, and two grandchildren in Arizona. A private memorial service was conducted in Culpeper, Virginia, on June 5. Interment will be private at Culpeper National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions can be sent in his name to Persecution Project, https://www.persecutionproject.org/relief-shelter.
