Henry Otis Price's Obituary
Henry Otis Price, better known as “Hop” or “Lightning”, 70, of Culpeper, passed on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Culpeper Hospital after a long illness. He was born December 6, 1952, in Virginia to the late William Menefee and Gertrude Price.
Henry joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Alanthus, VA at a very early age. Although he was remiss in attending, he never lost his faith.
He attended and graduated from Culpeper County High School and worked for VDOT until he became disabled.
Henry loved fishing with his friend, Grant, and his nephew, Norman, playing cards, and watching westerns. However, his main passion was watching and rooting for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
In 1973, Henry met the love of his life, Melanie. They were married in 1985 and from this union they had two sons.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, David and Warren.
Henry leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Melanie; one daughter, Shamonya Campbell (Tay); two sons, Donavan (Crystal) and David (Amy Putnam); eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gloria Alexander (George), Shirley Price, Valerie Jackson (Jerry), and Melanie Menefee; one brother, James; one aunt, Sarah Morris; four nephews, one niece; one sister-in-law, Brenda Price; and a host of other relatives and friends, including his special friends, Grant, Vilma, and Tacy.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Rev. Sylvester Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
