Henry B. Atkins' Obituary
Henry B. Atkins, 76, of Glen Allen entered into the Lord's hands on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond. He was born February 12, 1938 in Rappahannock to the late Olden and Gertie Jenkins Atkins.
Mr. Atkins was an avid NASCAR fan and was a member of the Fredericksburg Moose and Eagles lodge. He loved to dance and enjoyed country music.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Roberta Atkins; one daughter, Sharon Shaw and her husband, David of Culpeper; three stepchildren, Alan Payne of Goochland, Cindy Pryor and her husband, Dennis of Goochland and Sandi Mills; four siblings, Robert Atkins of CA, James Atkins of TN, Mildred Ross of MS and special sister, Sue Fortuna of Amissville; and Sharon’s mother, Lucille.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Preston and Jennifer Shaw, Jason Payne and his wife, Alisha, Tanner and Cody Payne, Logan Pryor and Virginia “Ginna” Curry; and three great grandchildren, Leland Curry, Grayson and Gunnar Payne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Backe.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Minister Clyde Dalton officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Payne, Charles Harris, Donnie Stephens, Alvin Merryman, Robert Holbert and Frank Carlon.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
