Helen Frances Holford's Obituary
Helen Frances Duffy Holford, 84, beloved by family and friends, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, March 17, 2012 at her home in Fredericksburg.
Helen was born in Washington, DC and grew up and spent her early married years in Northern Virginia. Her love and generosity touched the lives of many. Her many talents, including art, genealogy, astrology, and gardening, enhanced the lives of all the people around her. Helen enjoyed her later years working as a tour guide at Mary Washington House.
Helen is survived by her brother and sister, Charlie Duffy and his wife, Betty, and Mary Scheer and her husband, Leonard; her sister-in-law, Anne Hart and her husband, Ramon; her three daughters, JoAnne Wiggins and her husband, Hal, Carol Cooke and her husband, Gary, and Susan Kopko and her husband, Bill; seven grandchildren, Valerie Harte, James Hicks and his wife, Rupa, Melinda Willis, Andrew Cooke, Nicholas Kopko, Anna Rodriguez and her husband, Jose, and Elaine Kopko; five great-grandchildren, Krystina Harte, Brett Harte, Katie Willis, Benjamin Willis, and Keenan Hicks; and her dearest friend of many years, Elisabeth Oldaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Holford.
Helen will be remembered at a memorial service on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg with the Rev. Pam Meeuwissen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Helen’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank, P.O. Box 3275, Fredericksburg, VA, 22402.
