Hazel Ardelle Putnam Cooke's Obituary
Hazel Ardelle Putnam Cooke, 95 of Amissville, VA died on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at MontVue Nursing Home in Luray. She was born on December 27, 1913 in Rappahannock County to the late Noah and Mary Grimsley Putnam.
Mrs. Cooke was a faithful and dedicated member of Amissville Baptist Church. She worked at Aileen Sewing Factory for many years. She was a hardworking lady who enjoyed gardening and canning.
Mrs. Cooke is survived by her children, Peggy Menefee and her husband, James of Amissville and Doris Jenkins and her husband, Vernon of Rixeyville, her grandchildren, David Menefee of Bealeton, Michael Cooke of Amissville, Dana Hensley of Amissville, Sandra Davidson of Culpeper, and Kathy Smith of Culpeper, nine great grandchildren, and one great- great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer James Cooke, her son, James Randolph Cooke, and her siblings, Thelma Poe, Calvin Putnam, Lorelle Burner, Elwood Putnam and Bedford Putnam.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ed Taylor officiating.
