Hazael Scoggins Bruce's Obituary
Hazael Scoggins Bruce, 94, of St. Augustine, FL, died on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at her residence. She was born on August 16, 1914 in High Point, NC to the late Hubert Lee Scoggins and Hallie Matthews Scoggins.
Mrs. Bruce was a member of Christ Church in Gordonsville where she served on the Alter Guild. During her stay in Hyattsville, MD she was a member of ECW and president of Hyattsville Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing golf, Bridge and being host to her multitude of friends as they came by to visit.
She is survived by her two sons, William M. Bruce and his wife, Karen J. of Silver Spring, MD and Robert G. Bruce and his wife, Angela F. of Highland, MD, three grandchildren, Garnett R. Bruce, Matthew M. Bruce, and Andrea L. Bruce-Smith, three great grandchildren, Emmaline Bruce, Ethan Bruce and Hunter Smith and one niece, Carla Butler.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, William Mercer Bruce, Sr. and her sister, Mary Schiller.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Christ Episcopal Church in Gordonsville at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Fichter, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
