Captain Harry Lee Smith's Obituary
Harry Lee Smith, 86, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.
Harry Lee graduated from Eubank High School in Kentucky and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958. He later graduated from the University of Kentucky with his master’s degree in business.
Captain Harry Lee Smith, USNR, has worn many hats in his life: as he climbed his way up the ladder in his 41-year Navy and Naval Reserve career, as marketing director for a bank, as editor and publisher at the local community college and as owner of a promotional products company, Promotions USA, Inc. He retired from the Navy in 1999.
Harry Lee is survived by his wife, Gail Smith; a daughter, Sally Smith; two brothers, Walter Smith (Janie), and Dale Smith (Jackie); four sisters, Lorraine Petrey, Pauline Thompson (Bill), Marie Crocket (Gary) and Nancy Baxter (Roy); two stepchildren, Melanie Poole and Bobby Poole; two granddaughters, Amanda Marie Litch and Sydney Smith; two grandsons, Noah Christopher-Lee Smith and Kody William Alexander Smith; four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vestal E. Bailey Smith and Paul D. Smith; his son, Alan Lee Smith; sisters, Alberta Ann Smith, Alma Jean Smith, Carol J. Smith, and Lois May; and brother, Glen Smith.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Live stream of the funeral service will be available to watch at https://foundandsons.com. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA.
