Harry Ruth's Obituary
Harry Vernon Ruth, 82, of Fredericksburg passed away Friday, October 23, 2009
at Woodbine Rehabilitation Center.
He was a member of Eastland United Methodist Church, Solvay Masonic Lodge,
the Spotsylvania Lions Club and volunteered for 12 years at Mary Washington
Hospital.
Harry served in the United States Navy during World War II and worked for
General Accident Group as a claims manager for 34 years before starting his own
Palm Desert Insurance Investigations business.
Harry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris F. Ruth; two daughters, Elaine
Ottley and her husband, Dennis of Stafford County and Roberta Bobbie Gaffney
and her husband, Dan of Palm Desert, CA; two granddaughters, Maureen Gessel
and Meaghan Gaffney and a great grandson, Braeden Gessel, all of Palm Desert,
CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Kathryn Ruth; his sister,
Wanda Sherman and his brother, Clarence “Shorty” Ruth.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Harry would wish that those who loved him perform a random
act of kindness on his behalf.
