Harrison Marion Cox Lightfoot
Harrison Marion Cox Lightfoot, 97, of Culpeper died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 29, 1919 in Culpeper to the late J.E.R. and Martha Childs Lightfoot.
Mr. Lightfoot attended Dunbar High School in Washington, Howard University and received his graduate degree from NYU School of Social Work in New York City. He was a caseworker for and eventually the Director of NYC Youth Board and later became the Director of Community Mental Health at the Center for Comprehensive Health Practice at New York Medical College where he worked until his retirement. His great love in life was music but he chose a professional career in social services to give back to others some of the educational and professional opportunities he himself had been given.
He is survived by his two daughters, Martha and Sarah Lightfoot.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Landonia Greenwood and Russell Franklin.
Services will be private.
