Harold Leroy Brooks' Obituary
Harold “Leroy” Brooks, 74, of Fredericksburg passed away at his home on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014.
Leroy, as he was known to everyone, was a man who loved the outdoors, whether it was working as a heavy-equipment operator or relaxing with one of his favorite pastimes. Leroy was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener, as well as a lifelong member of the Brooktown Hunt Club. Leroy also loved spending time with his children, his grandchildren and close friends.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ruthan Brooks, and his son, “Bubby” Brooks, both of the home. He is also survived by three grandsons, Cassin Brooks, Thomas Gibson and Tyler Gibson, as well as one granddaughter, Abigail Brooks. He leaves behind three very close family friends, Cindy Graham, Sharon Johnston and Douglas Jackson; numerous nephews; a niece; and a host of other family members and friends.
Leroy’s family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held for him at 1 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 30, at the Lloyd–Brooks family cemetery on Dovey Road in Spotsylvania.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary Washington Hospice for the care they provided during this difficult time.
