Hallene X Swenson's Obituary
Hallene X Swenson, 85, of Culpeper passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at her home. She was born September 12, 1931 in Effingham, IL to the late Harold Edward and Harriett Figenbaum Christie.
Hallene often recalled learning her colors and numbers while helping her father sort stamps and she remained an avid philatelist as she travelled the world. She lived in Korea, India, Afghanistan and Turkey from 1958-1974, raising her children and supporting her husband as a member of the USAID diplomatic community. Hallene recently moved to Culpeper to be closer to her family.
She is survived by her three children, Clinton Tyler Wood, Della Hallene Edrington and her husband, Patrick, and Bruce Jon Swenson and his wife, Kyoko; two brothers, Harry and Hugh Christie; five grandchildren, John Edrington, Tanya Remsberg, Victoria Wood, Stephanie Sonifrank and Cedric Wood; step grandson, Troy Edrington; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. Swenson; and one brother, Howard Christie.
Services will be private.
