Gwendoline Millicent Woolford's Obituary
Gwendoline Millicent Woolford, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at her home in Bickford Assisted Living in Spotsylvania, VA after a short illness.
She was born on May 22, 1927 in Guyana. She was the daughter to the late, Sophia and Ignatius Collins.
Gwendoline was a woman who valued hard work, dignity, and the value of education. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1968 with the goal of assisting her children with access to higher education. Gwendoline was employed until she was 75. She deeply valued her independence and the comfort of her home, where she enjoyed cooking and serving holiday meals.
Gwendoline was a woman of deep Christian faith and loved her church home, Crossroads Baptist Church. She enjoyed her time with fellow seniors and staff at the Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging and was deeply grateful for the services provided.
Gwendoline is survived by her children, Ann Woolford, Deryck Woolford and Sandra Persaud; grandchildren, Karan, Swaran, and Zail Singh, and Krishna Persaud; great-grandchildren, Kanye Persaud Slater, Kiran and Mirit Singh-Lefkovitz, and Naveen and Arvind Singh.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Woolford; her brothers, Albert, Eric, Arnold, and Wilfred Collins; and her sisters, Ursula Gomes and Winifred Spiers.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. The funeral service and burial will be private.
