Gregory Baker's Obituary
Gregory Baker was born March 5, 1966, in Queens, New York to the late Wilson (Wilbert) and Gladys (People) Baker. He completed his journey in life, and God sent his angels to call him home on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Stafford Hospital, in Stafford, Virginia.
Greg graduated from Jamacia High School in Queens New York. He loved to learn new things and continued his education at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, Pace University, New York University and Strayer University. He obtained a degree in Criminal Justice and went on to work as a Paralegal Specialist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for over 34 years, retiring in 2020.
Greg had a zest for life. He shared a love of movies with his son Cameron and often they would see the first showing of most new movies on a Saturday morning. He greatly enjoyed old western television programs that he watched with his father as a child, as well as game shows. He had an appreciation for cars and enjoyed working on them. He loved all genres of music and was quite a crooner himself. And as a true native New Yorker, he was a die-hard NY Knicks and NY Giants fan. Greg was known by many, had a multitude of friends, and he never met a stranger. He was very much a people person and had a gift of gab from a very early age.
Greg joined Friendship Baptist Church in Springfield Garden, New York at an early age and was baptized May 4, 1979, by Reverend C. Kingsbury.
Greg was married to the late Darlene Goode-Baker who preceded him in death in 2008. She was truly the love of his life as he would tell anyone who knew him. Together they raised two children, their son Cameron, and their adopted niece Ramona who they loved as their own.
Greg leaves to cherish his memories, one son Cameron M. Baker, VA, one daughter Ramona Goode, TX, his mother Gladys Baker, VA, sister Velma Jenket (Donald), NC, brother G. Lavon Baker (Joyce), MD, sister Valerie M. Gartrell (Gregory), VA, 3 sisters-in-law Linda Monroe, TX, Diane Goode, GA, Beverly Hopkins, IN, three grandchildren Jordan, Madison, and Jackson, TX, uncle Curtis Baker (Lois), VA, aunts Alice Werts, NC, Mozelle Kornegay, NJ, Marie Taylor, MD, Brenda Ellis (Dannie), NC 6 nieces and 6 nephews, a host of cousins, and childhood friends that were like brothers to him.
