I didn't know Greg as well as many who have posted, but I always looked forward to seeing him. He was smart and always funny and fun to be with. I remember when I first visited their house and Michele assured me that Greg kept only non-venomous snakes there, but then he showed me his snake room and EVERY SINGLE THING there was venomous!! He lived life to the fullest in every way! Chuck Suter
Before there were apps to help identify birds, plants and nature, I always asked Gregg North, and looked forward to sharing bird sightings and garden updates with him. My husband met Gregg in an online fishing forum for Hatteras in the late 1990's. He told Kevin to look for him at the Point at Hatteras, he was the guy in the Forerunner with Pompano license plates. We did catch up to him, and they've been close friends ever since.
Memories of Gregg - Hatteras, beach permits, the Point, pompano, Toyota Forerunner, Hyde County, the Hydeaway, huntin' grounds, cruising, karaoke, red pygmy rattlesnakes, sea hag, snake world, bird world, turtle world, feeding the cats at the backdoor, feeding the mockingbird at the dogwood tree, buckeye trees, cherokee purple, bonfires, bbq, fish frys, magic pond, hunting for arrowheads in the hazel river, rock tumbling, panning for gold, river agates, paw-paw trees, orchids, lilies, sunflowers, flame azaleas, fireworks, canoes and kayaks, Ned Beatty memorial float trip, Deadwood, bluebirds, hummingbirds, orioles, black walnut tree, sunsets and grilled dinner, cornware, plant sales and nurseries, DC botanical gardens, many lovely visits over the years to Rixeyville listening to Gregg's stories and the love and pride he had for his family. We will always miss him.

Once in the early 90's while hitting my favorite spot on the Thornton I met the first group of people I'd ever seen there in 20 some years at that site. A friendly fellow and an elderly man (learned later was his father) and a German Shepherd getting out of a canoe. Unbeknownst to me I would a few years later move next door to Gregg and his family and lived there for almost 10 years in Oakshade/Rixeyville.
I have wonderful memories of our fishing trips with you and Shep. You always brought the favorite pup for a swim. The annual canoe/fishing trips with your coworkers. Lots of amazing laughs and story telling by countless bonfires with our neighbor Lendell. It was always fun being around you and you could always turn the most chaotic challenge in life into pure comedy. You are still a great friend in my heart. Your were always available when I needed a laugh and just a genuine person in general.
Wish I had not lost contact with you when we moved but cherish the memories. Hopefully will see you again. Just don't forget the bait this time. I'll bring the Mepp's spinners in case.
May you rest in peace my friend and condolences to Michelle, Erin, and Josh.
