Jean is survived by her children, Cynthia Jean Dodson McGhee (Kenneth), Gregory William Dodson (Tooie), Brian Lee Dodson (Amy), and Melissa Dawn Dodson; her grandchildren, Kayla McGhee, Shawn Dodson, Megan Dodson, and Emily Wines; her siblings, Billy Snead Atkins (Peggy) and Betty Lou Walter; cherished nieces and nephews; and her beloved grand-pup, Cody.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis William Dodson; her granddaughter, Sidney Dodson; and her siblings, James Lee Atkins and Virgil Jackson Atkins.
Jean was a faithful believer in God whose life was reflected in her love for others. She had a gentle way about her and lovingly called everyone “precious.” Jean became a member of Woodville Baptist Church when she was a very young girl and later in life enjoyed attending Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church.
Jean worked for Faith Mountain Company as a supervisor for 16 years. She received her bachelor’s at a later age while working and raising her family, an accomplishment that she and her family took great pride in.
Jean was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished sister whose kindness and quiet strength touched all that knew her. She had a compassion and love for everyone even if she had never met you in person. In the last several years, Jean found great joy in texting with her friends and loved ones.
Her family and friends were gifted every morning and night with a text of I love you and a prayer of having a good day or peaceful night. Jean’s faith and strength for life never waivered and especially her love, as her lasts words were " I love you" to her children and grandchildren.
