Glenn Autry Hitt's Obituary
Glenn Autry Hitt, 87, of Castleton, VA, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Culpeper Hospital. He was born June 11, 1938, to the late Charles William Hitt and Sallie Lee Hitt.
He proudly served in the United States Army between the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, a time in his life he often reflected on with great pride. A true outdoorsman, he found peace and happiness in nature and loved spending time outside whenever he could.
A skilled carpenter by trade, he built many homes throughout Rappahannock County, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the community he served. He took immense pride in his craftsmanship and in seeing families make memories in the houses he helped create. He also enjoyed working on his own home, always finding a project to improve or repair. He loved what he did and was deeply proud of both his military service and his life’s work.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Terry Hitt; children, Harvey Lee Hitt (Irina) of New York, and Anna Marie Hitt (Jason Early) of Madison, VA; grandchildren, Audry Nicole Rhodes, Kevin Dwight Rhodes (Wesley), Mildred “Millie” Roberts, Camden Christopher Hitt, Madison McKenzie, and Maeleea Early; great grandchildren, Karma, Christina Weeks, Mave Weeks, Waylon Fincham, Lily Fincham, Rileigh, and Carson; siblings, Dorothy Scott and Ruby Dodson; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children; Glenn Audry Hitt, Jr. and Christopher Kevin Hitt; sister, Elizabeth Cline; and brothers, Charles Hitt and Jimmy Hitt.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Home, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
