Glenn Erskine Bankhead's Obituary
Glenn Erskine Bankhead, 67, passed away on January 16, 2026. Born on June 29, 1958, Glenn lived a life marked by loyalty, generosity, and a quiet willingness to help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his kindness, his dependability, and the countless ways he showed up for others.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Walter Erskine Bankhead. He is survived by his loving mother, Patricia W. Bankhead; his sisters, Deborah Kowasic and Katherine Ayers; his brother-in-law, Fred Ayers; his nieces, Patsy Kowasic and Ainsley Ayers; and his nephew, Christopher Kowasic (Kennedy Estes).
Glenn was a graduate of Culpeper County High School. He spent a few years after high school in Blacksburg and has carried those friendships forward to this day. He then worked for the family business, L.R. Waters, Inc., before continuing his career with the Town of Culpeper Light and Power. Glenn was known as someone who could fix just about anything. Over the last ten years, he became the person many relied on for computer help and other odd end jobs. There was never a call for assistance that he didn’t answer, no matter the time or the problem.
Glenn enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. His beverage of choice was a cold Heineken along with good BBQ. He had a generous spirit, a practical mind, and a steady presence that made others feel supported and cared for. His absence will be deeply felt by family, friends, and all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held privately.
A celebration of life reception will be held on Saturday, January 24,2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Rock Hill Farm 14461 Norman Road. Culpeper, VA 22701.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Glenn by having a drink at the bar at Buffalo Wild Wings, Prince Michel, or Death Ridge Brewery. Tip the bar staff generously. They will miss Glenn the most :)
