Gladys C. Pulliam's Obituary
Gladys C. Pulliam, 86, of Culpeper, died Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Autumn Care of Madison. She was born January 12, 1920 to the late Christopher Columbus and Ruth V. Clatterbuck.
Mrs. Pulliam served as magistrate for Culpeper County for forty years and was in charge of the Rationing Board during World War II. In addition to assisting her husband with their insurance and real estate agency, she was a very active Den Mother to many Cub Scouts including several of today’s very prominent community members. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, George L. “Tuck” Pulliam and his wife, Linda G. of Powhatan, VA, and William C. “Nip” Pulliam and his wife, Brenda G. of Powhatan, VA, her daughter, Christyn R. Pulliam of Culpeper, two grandchildren, George L. Pulliam, Jr. and his wife, Renee A., Christopher Brandon Pulliam and his wife, Rebecca A., and two great grandchildren, Tucker Ashton Pulliam and Kayla Reese Pulliam, all of Midlothian, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Pulliam, and her brother, Otis Clatterbuck, and one granddaughter, Tabbatha L. Pulliam.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA., 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Sandy Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the New Salem Baptist Church, P.O. Box 733, Culpeper, VA. 22701.
