Gladys K. Talley
Gladys Knight Talley, 93, of Spotsylvania County died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Woodmont Center in Stafford County. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Knight and Willie Irene Proffitt; her husband, Charles Brownie Talley; and her seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Edna T. Payne of Fredericksburg; one granddaughter, Deirdre M. Payne of Stafford; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Knight and Florence Knight Talley of Spotsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Talley was a master seamstress employed by G&H Manufacturing in Fredericksburg for more than 30 years. She was known for her love of gardening, word finds, her family and the Lord. An avid cook, Mrs. Talley also was the first to give of herself and to make others laugh. She was a member of Goshen Baptist Church in Spotsylvania.
A memorial service will be held at Goshen Baptist at a date to be announced following the holiday. She will be laid to rest in a family plot in the Confederate Cemetery in Spotsylvania.
The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 2217 Princess Anne St., Suite 106-1F, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
