Gid Brown Clater's Obituary
Gid Brown Clater, 76, of Sperryville died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born April 11, 1931 in Sperryville, VA to the late George Roxie Clater and Mary Ethel Atkins Clater.
Mr. Clater served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet Marie Lillard Clater, and his brother, Robert S. Clater of Manassas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Roxie Clater, Jr., Jack S. Clater, Isaac M. “Buck” Clater, and one sister, Cleo Clater Dodson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 28, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. John Burke officiating.
Interment will follow in Sperryville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Holly Pendleton, Ernest Clater, Wayne Carwile, Freddie Thompson, Chucky Jenkins, and Tony Wayland.
