Geraldine Harding Walker's Obituary
Geraldine Harding Walker, 91, of Spotsylvania died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Geraldine was born on August 5, 1919 in Fauquier County, to the late Absaloum Rogers Harding and Nora Day Harding.
Geraldine moved to Culpeper County in 1932 and graduated from Lignum High School and was the music director for the Richardsville United Methodist Church for many years. On February 14, 1948, Valentine’s Day, she married Ivan Lee Walker and moved to the northern Virginia area and after thirty years of service she retired from the Bank of America. She then moved to the Senior Living at Salem Run in Spotsylvania before moving to the Culpeper Health and Rehab. Center.
Geraldine is survived by two brothers, Abb Roger Harding, Jr. of Culpeper and Trewitt Delano Harding with his wife Sandra, of Spotsylvania, six nieces and nephews, William Timberlake and his wife Diana of Alexandria, Richard Harding of Culpeper, David Harding and his wife Nancy of Frederick, Maryland, Dreama Long of Fredericksburg, Raymond Harding, Jr. and his wife Teresa of Spotsylvania , and Trewdee H. Conrow and her husband Kevin of Harrisonburg, and thirteen great nieces and nephews, Kristi Elles and William Timberlake, Jr., R.J. Harding, Kristie Harding, Ethan Conrow, Grace Harding, Tory Harding, Richard Long, Steve Rose, Joanna Johncox, Kathleen Shiflett, Carter and Chad Timberlake.
Having had no children of her own, her nieces and nephews were her family. She was very involved with raising her nieces and nephews, especially Trewdee H. Conrow.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ivan Lee Walker, her sister Genevieve Timberlake and her brother Raymond J. Harding, and a sister in law Carolyn B. Harding.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, July 11, 2011 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Richardsville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stan Mulford and Rev. Randal Blankenship officiating.
Interment will follow at the Richardsville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers named are, David and Richard Harding, William Timberlake, Jr., Kevin Conrow, Steve Rose and John Canter.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to the Richardsville United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 8, Lignum, Virginia 22726 and/or Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, Virginia 22701.
