Geraldine Mirth Rieger's Obituary
Gerry Rieger, 77, of 2600 Cowan Boulevard, Fredericksburg, VA died of stroke related complications on Monday, December 13th at Mary Washington Hospital.
She was born on April 21, 1933, in Madrid, Iowa, daughter of Ross and Rolla (Grigsby) Stover. She lived in Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Connecticut, and Virginia. Her primary love and focus was her family. She enjoyed a varied and interesting mix of careers including work in a dental office, The Traveler’s Insurance Company, helping to rear her granddaughters in VA, a good stint in the real estate world (Long and Foster) and some retirement work at The Giant Grocery Store. Her interests included travel, gardening, board games, puzzles, card games, and watching and playing golf. Gerry was a kind hearted, salt of the earth Christian woman. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love of her family and friends, never asking for much but always giving the fullest, especially of her heart and her time.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her 6 siblings- Agnes Smith, Leone Gordon, Junella Klonglan, David Lyle Stover, Donald Stover, and Drexel Stover. She is survived by her loving children, Linda Rieger Kimball (Maine), Karen Schorkopf and George Rieger II (TN), Debbie Stillwell and Sandi Flowers (VA) and her 14 grandchildren—Christy, Geoffrey, Katie, Jessica, Brittney, Timothy, Douglas, Jack, Stephen, Meghan, Austin, George, Amelia and Parker and several nieces, nephews, one daughter-in-law and her sons-in-law.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Kingdom Baptist Church, 1717 Stafford Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA with Pastor Polston officiating. Her ashes will be spread in Madrid, Iowa at a later date.
Memorials may be given to Kingdom Baptist Church in Geraldine’s honor.
