Geraldine "Jerry" Gibbs Elkins' Obituary
Geraldine “Jerry” Gibbs Elkins, 92, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Culpeper Hospital. She was born April 12, 1934, to the late Lester Charles Gibbs and Christine Smith Gibbs in Orange, VA.
Jerry found great joy in gardening and took special pride in caring for her flowers. She had a deep love for all animals, especially her beloved cats, Nuisance and Bojangles. A faithful member of the Culpeper Baptist Church, Jerry cherished her church family and the friendships she made throughout the years. She was a strong and devoted mother, grandmother, and an extraordinary person whose love, guidance, and unwavering support touched the lives of those around her. Her kindness, compassion, and love for nature, animals, and family will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Jerry is survived by her children, Larry Elkins (Linda), Stevie Elkins, Teresa Baker (Wayne), and Lisa Gallihugh (Richard); seven grandchildren, Susan Apel (Ricky), Tracy Higginbotham (John), David Elkins (Rachel), Ashly Dickson (Hoover), Garry Elkins (Amy), Chrissy Corbin (Joey), and Jacob Settle (Laryssa); 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Woodward; close family friend, Kenny Stringfellow; and a host of additional family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jerry is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Junior Elkins; her granddaughter, Leona Nicole Settle; brother, Charles Gibbs; and son-in-law, Alan Hitt.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Jacob Settle, Garry Elkins, Joey Corbin, Garrett Elkins, Logan Elkins, Justin Elkins, and Masyn Elkins.
Honorary Pallbearers serving the family will be David Elkins, Kenny Stringfellow and Bailey Corbin.
