Geraldine Mae Cooper's Obituary
Geraldine M. Cooper of Spotsylvania passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
Gerrie was born and raised in Green Bay, WI, joining the Navy in 1952 and was stationed in Bainbridge, MD; there she met the love of her life, Scott Cooper and they lived a full life together for 48 years until Scott’s passing in 2004.
Gerrie was the best of the best as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She gave her all for her family. As an often-alone Navy wife, she provided a magical childhood to her children, taking them on adventures and instilling in them a strong work ethic. She was never one to sit still, she worked for many years for the Federal Government in a variety of positions, retiring after more than 20 years of service. That was not enough for her, she began a new career as the “sample lady” at Costco (CDS), where she gained many treasured friendships and loyal customers. She retired again at the age of 84, only to go back after a few months because she was bored. She worked until just before Covid19 forced her to stay home.
Gerri is survived by her five children, Scott Cooper (Lorrie) of Blountville, TN, Richard Cooper (Sandi) of Spotsylvania, VA, Susan Bryant of the home, David Cooper of Mineral, VA, and Regina McMichael, of Zephyrhills, FL; grandchildren, April Charest, Amory Mott (Bobby), Ashley Cooper, RJ Cooper, Jessica Bryant, Tyler Bryant, Lexi Cooper, and Cooper McMichael; her cherished great-grandchildren, Kayden Wayne, Gavin Gillis, Arlee Mott, and Grayson Mott; and her sister, Goria Jean Bevins of Oswego IL; and many loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Kearns; and her husband, Scott.
Never one for a fuss over her, burial will be privately held later at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, she wished for you to support the Veterans organization of your choice.
