Georgie Mae Bell's Obituary
Georgie Mae Burns Bell, born September 17, 1934 in Onslow, North Carolina. Died February 3, 2023 in Partlow, Virginia, 88 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Thurman Woodland Bell, Sr., her son, David D. Bell, daughter, Roselle Collier, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and two siblings. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Thurman Woodland Bell, Jr.
Her first job was at a shirt factory in North Carolina and her last job was in the cafeteria at Woodbridge Senior High School in the 1980’s. She was small in stature but bigger than life. She brought a smile to everyone she met.
Georgie took the knowledge she learned at her first job and used it to make many creations over the years. Her great grandchildren are still wearing clothing she made over 30 years ago. She had many talents, including gardening, baking and crafts of all kinds. She was known for her pound cakes, banana bread and snickerdoodles. Her paintings hang in place of pride in all of our homes. She will live on through everyone she touched in her long life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
