George Nebel's Obituary
George Kurt Nebel Sr., 80, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at his home in Stafford County, with his loving wife, family members and his parish priest at his bedside.
George was born in Chicago, Ill., to Kurt and Rose Nebel, who had 12 children. As a schoolboy, George was active in his parish church as an altar server. He served in the Merchant Marines and was a member of the Genoa Council of the Knights of Columbus.
George worked in real estate development for many years. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather and a beloved friend.
George is survived by his wife, Joan; his sons and daughters, George Jr. and Annette Nebel, Wayne and Debbie Nebel, Lynn and Michael Muck, Steven Nebel, Jodie Evans, Susan and Brandon Pollard, Cindi and Skip Causey, Jay Evans and Jill Wuonola. He was preceded in death by his son, Kurt Nebel. Survivors also include his grandchildren, Mark, Keily, Sarah, Richard and Katie Nebel, Kurt Ceballes, Carrie and Tim Thomas, Nathan and Micah Springer, Mary and Philip Wuonola and Chelsea Causey; his great-granddaughter, Abigail Rose Thomas; and brothers and sisters, Joseph and Kurt Nebel, Bunny Alfred, Dorothy LeBeau and Marge Pavletic.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Aquia Episcopal Church in Stafford. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. William of York Catholic Church in Stafford, with burial in Stafford Memorial Park. A reception will follow at Aquia Episcopal Church.
