George Arnold Magee, Jr.'s Obituary
George Arnold Magee, Jr., 85, of Culpeper died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at his residence. He was born November 19, 1930 in Norfolk, VA to the late George A. Magee, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Ellis Magee.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Carol Cox Magee; two children, Hal Warren Magee and Ruth Elizabeth Hodges, both of Manassas; two grandchildren, Sara Unger and her husband, Danny of Winchester and Nicole Hodges of Manassas; and great grandson, Landon Unger.
Mr. Magee was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church. As a successful gemologist, he celebrated 35 years of business as the owner of Magee Jeweler’s in Manassas. He served as a Magistrate and special Sheriff’s Deputy while living in Manassas as well as Auxiliary member of the Prince William Hospital. Upon moving to Culpeper he was a founding member of the Culpeper Coin Club, member of the Culpeper Minuteman Chorus and Barbershop Harmony Society.
Mr. Magee was a veteran of the US Army having served his country during the Korean War where he was awarded an Honorable Discharge and was a member of the 221st Army Band Fort Eustis, VA. His many military awards include the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Freedom Team Salute Certificate of Appreciation from the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Army, and the Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Defense 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rudy Tucker officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
Pallbearers will be Cecilio Morales, Bishop Sterns, Greg Duval, Jim Garrison, Richard Kitts and George Salisbury.
