George Edgar Dwyer's Obituary
George Edgar Dwyer, 76, of Woodbridge passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his residence. He was born May 2, 1937 in Culpeper to Helena S. Dwyer Charles and the late George Edgar Dwyer.
Mr. Dwyer was a veteran of the US Army Reserve and was a Union carpenter in Washington DC for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had a great passion for guns and gun shows. Mr. Dwyer’s greatest love and dearest treasure in life was his late wife Barbara whom even after her death he continued to cherish.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother; Richard “Dickie” Dwyer and his wife, Connie of Elkwood; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Dwyer of Culpeper and Joan Suthard of Remington; two nephews, David Hilton and his wife, Kim of Fredericksburg and Derick Dwyer and his wife, Ashley of Fredericksburg; six nieces, Vickie Dwyer Weakley of Culpeper, Teresa Dwyer of Stanardsville, Dana Dwyer Torres and her husband, Freddie of Seaford, VA, Maury Amorelli of Glendale, AZ, Melanie Switzer and her husband, Tony of Opal and Sharon Miller and her husband, Steve of Warrenton; as well as a host of other relatives and close friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann Dwyer; one brother, Arthur Dwyer; one sister, Betty Dwyer Hilton; and one niece, Tina Hilton Julian.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2pm at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Stan Mulford officiating.
