I first met George in our USAF Pilot Training Class 64E. We remained life long friends from that time to the present. He was a good man and a dedicated patriot. I think I and all his other classmates will forever remember him for his memorable accomplishment of a for real dead stick landing of his T-33 during training "This is George again on guard!".
I have sent a donation to VFW Post 2524 in his memory. Rest in peace George.
Col Dixon and my father worked together when they were stationed in Germany and remained dear friends for the rest of their lives. I loved hearing their stories. Col Dixon always made me laugh. One of our family stories that was told many times was when I babysat his sons when I was in Jr HS. When he came home I was sound asleep (not good) so he took a picture and took it to his work, where he and my dad worked. He put it on the bulletin board with the sign "our babysitter." This is only one of many memories I'll keep with me.
Much love to Elsa and the entire family of Col Dixon
George bravely battled cancer for several years with an upbeat attitude willing to try treatment options. His faith grew stronger as the battle progressed so he was confident that whatever happened he was in good hands and eternal healing awaited where earthly healing was wanting. We are thankful Elsa was at George’s side providing physical, emotional and spiritual support. May she be comforted knowing that like a good Air Force officer George completed his mission with valor. George Dixon was a good man, good USAF Officer and Pilot and good friend. We flew together during Jet Pilot Training in 1963 and George was an excellent pilot and a class leader. He will be missed by many. God bless George and be with his family. Clint Hanna, Col, USAF Ret
