George Colbert Curtis' Obituary
George Colbert Curtis, 81, of Fredericksburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016.
George was a lifetime resident of Spotsylvania County and a caring individual whose greatest love was his wife and family. He was employed for over 30 years for C&P Telephone Company and 20 years for Spotsylvania County. He was a member of Sylvania Heights Baptist Church, and in his spare time he loved to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
George leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Elsie Curtis of Fredericksburg; and four children; Ronnie Curtis (Connie) of Mississippi, Charlene Snyder, Sherry Lunsford (Lawrence), both of Fredericksburg, Terry Curtis (Toni) of North Carolina; and his sister-in-law, Brenda Sullivan of Richmond. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a niece, a nephew; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Sgt. Roger L. Sullivan, of Richmond.
George’s family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Services located at 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, 22407. A funeral to commemorate his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at the funeral home, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of charitable donations in George’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at 2217 Princess Anne Street #106-1F Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
