George Warren Carpenter
Well respected and long time banker, George W. Carpenter died Friday, September 9, 2011. Mr. Carpenter was born on August 23, 1944 in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Atwell Kelsie Carpenter and Eunice Alice Carpenter. He was 67 years old and proceeded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Mr. Carpenter retired as Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank in Culpeper, in 1998 after 34 years of service. He joined Virginia Community Bank as Vice President of Business Development in 2000 and worked part-time until June 2011. Survivors are his wife of 36 years, Janet Mann Carpenter; one son, Theodore “Ted” Mann Carpenter; a sister and brother-in-law, Martha Mann Perkins and Byron A. Perkins, III of Chesapeake, Virginia; one sister, Dorothy C. Faulconer; and his beloved labrador retriever “B”.
Arrangements are private.
The family invites Mr. Carpenter’s friends to a memorial celebration of his life at the Best Western, Commonwealth Room, Madison Road, Culpeper, on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Considering Mr. Carpenter’s love for dogs, in lieu of flowers a donation to the Culpeper County Animal Shelter will be significantly valued.
