George Thomas Alley's Obituary
George Thomas Alley, 80, of Culpeper, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 29, 2024, after a brief illness at the Culpeper Health and Rehab Center. He was born April 6, 1943, in Bluefield, VA to the late George Washington and Sarah Lexie Alley.
George loved fishing with his best friend of more than 70 years, Paul Kirk, and his buddies, Larry Kirk, Bill Kirk, Elmer Greer, and Randy Shry.
George is survived by Rebecca Shry, his girlfriend of 30 plus years; one brother, Paul Alley of Stanley Town, VA; four daughters, Angela Jarrett (Danny) of Kingsport, TN, Peggy Chapman (Michael) of Bristol, TN, Phyllis Charles (Rick) of Richmond, KY, and Lisa Shoemaker of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren, Tanya Bentley of Harold, KY, Santana Slone (Gene) of Mouthcard, KY, C.J. Justice (Katlin) of Wheeling, WV, Zackary and Joel Chapman of Bristol, TN, Courtney Hughes of Georgetown, KY, and Tyler Justice (Hannah) of Pikeville, KY; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews which he loved dearly; four step-children; 11 step-grandchildren; and 19 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by one grandson, Jacob Wright; two brothers; and five sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, 225 Spicers Mill Road, Orange, VA 22960, with Pastor Paul Kirk officating.
