Gary H. Smith's Obituary
Gary H. Smith, 58, of Louisa, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Gary was a painter by trade for over 30 years, served in the US Army for four years as an MP and was a distributor of the Free Lance Star Newspaper for over 15 years.
Gary is survived by his companion of eight years, Tammy Schinner; two sons, Gary E. Smith and Stacy V. Smith and his wife, Kristie, all of Spotsylvania County; a daughter, Julia T. Smith of Spotsylvania; a sister, Janie Powell of Spotsylvania; two honorary sons, Mark A. Ramsey and Robert E. Ramsey, both of Maryland; a grandson, Julian T. Smith of Spotsylvania; two honorary grandsons, Hunter E. Ramsey and Wyatt A. Ramsey, both of Maryland and a special friend, Daniel R. Dunivan, Jr. of Louisa. He also leaves behind numerous other friends, nieces and nephews.
Gary’s family will receive friends Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels – Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Rd., Fredericksburg from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 23 at the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am with the Rev. Jack A. Marcom, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Falmouth Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Gary’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in his name to the American Cancer Society, c/o Trudy Clifton, 113 Tall Pines Avenue, Locust Grove, VA 22508 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
