Gary “Dutch” Brink passed away on October 28, 2025. He was born November 25, 1949, in Vermont. Dutch was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Susan Brink, often reminding her that he would marry her again if given the chance. H Read Obituary
Our Thursday walking group had the pleasure of seeing Dutch and Max every week on our walks. Dutch always had a smile on his face and was proud to introduce Max to the kids and ask if they wanted to pet him. We will absolutely miss seeing him at the park and are thinking of his family. -Marie, No Excuse Mom Culpeper
We saw Dutch with Max at Yowell Meadow often when taking our toddler there to play. Dutch was always so kind to bring Max over to our daughter to pet him on every single lap. Although she only knows a few words, one of them is “Max”. Rest in peace, you will be missed.
I'm one of those who met Dutch while walking dogs at Yowell Meadow. Recently he mentioned that when training new hires at the corrections facility he told them to follow 3 things: "Be fair. Be firm. Be consistent." That way of life may be why we saw him one day have a very spontaneous warm happy reunion with a former inmate when they happened to spot each.

My mom and I were fortunate to meet Dutch a few years ago on his walks with Max at the park. He was always willing to stop and chat, allowing us to pet and shake paws with the "King of the Park."
You will be dearly missed, Dutch. Thank you for the happiness you and Max spread each day on your morning walks.

We always looked forward to chatting at the park with Dutch and giving Max treats after he gave us his paw. We will miss his kind smile on our daily walks and are happy to know that Max will continue to be well loved and cared for.
Stopping to chat with Gary and pet Max on their walks in Yowell Meadow Park has been a highlight of my day for years. He will be missed. I'm grateful that Max will continue to make people happy at the park, where he will help keep Gary's memory alive.
