Fred Vincent Mawyer's Obituary
Fred V. Mawyer, 83, of Fredericksburg passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 after a long fight with cancer.
Fred was born September 15, 1931 to the late Stewart T. and Ola H. Mawyer. He was a SFC in the Army from 1951-1953 stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was an honorary member of the Charlottesville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Spotsylvania American Legion Post 320.
Fred retired from Geico after more than 30 years and from Car Quest after 15 years. His hobbies were working in his woodworking shop and playing his guitars. He also loved his dogs and horses and cruising with his wife and grandsons.
Fred is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine S. Mawyer; daughter, Melanie A. Hurley and her husband, Johnny; son, Jeffrey S. Mawyer and his fiancé, El Horne; and grandsons, Corey and Joseph McAndrew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charlotte M. Sacre and brother, Randolph W. Mawyer.
A memorial gathering will be held from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Fred’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 333 N. Summit Street, Toledo, OH 43604-1531.
