Frank Delano Short's Obituary
Frank Delano Short, 80, of Culpeper died Saturday, June 29, 2013 at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. He was born May 5, 1933 in Spiro, Oklahoma to the late Will L. Short and the late Bessie Nickels Short.
Mr. Short was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He belonged to the local VFW and American Legion, and he was a member of the Moose Lodge since 1967. He was known as an avid fan of the Washington Redskins. He loved a good card game and a good meal, but he loved his family most of all.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Mae Short. Additional survivors include two daughters, Vonda K. Jackson and her husband, Chuckie, of Orange, and Tracy A. Russell and her husband, Keith, of Culpeper, and two sons, Robin K. Short and James F. Short and his wife, Crystal, all of Culpeper.
Also surviving is a granddaughter, Chelsea J. Short, of Culpeper, and three step-grandchildren, Tiffany, Jessica and Ashley, all of North Carolina. He is also survived by two step-great- grandchildren, Kadance Grace and Vince Alan.
In addition to his parents and ten older siblings, he is preceded in death by a son, Gregory Bruce Short.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 6-9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Found and Sons Chapel with Pastor Roger Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to a local Veteran’s organization.
Military honors will be provided by Culpeper American Legion Post 330 and VFW Post 2524.
