Frank Moore Jr.'s Obituary
Frank Moore, Jr was born in East Beckley, West Virginia on January 14, 1937 to the late Carrie Mae and Frank Moore. Frank was one of four children. All of siblings preceded him in birth: brother, Leroy (deceased); sisters, Mary Frances (deceased) and Cleopatria. Frank’s mother died when he was very young. Shortly after her demise Frank’s loving Uncle Morton (deceased) and Aunt Mary (deceased) raised him in Mascot, WV until adulthood.
Frank attended school in Mascot, WV where he studied music and mastered guitar playing. During his early school year’s tragedy struck and he was hit by a train, which resulted in amputating one leg. He never allowed his physical disability to prevent him from pursuing his passion of guitar playing. Frank was the manager of a hardware store on Fulton Street where he worked long hours very diligently. He was also a bartender at his dearest cousin and best friend, Daniel “Bubba” Sims’ night club. The family’s fondest memories were spent watching him entertaining at functions, playing his guitar while we sang background music. We loved watching his excitement when family was around him, eating his favorite foods and dessert.
In 1950, he moved to New York, where he met Irene Shelton. In their loving union they raised: Denise, Regina, Yvonne, Mary, Frank, Jr. “Spanky” (deceased), Renay, Joyce and Sonya.
In the late 1970's, Frank met Effie Glymph (deceased) in Brooklyn, NY. Frank and Effie raised multiple children, Raynard, Lulu, Justin, TK, Von, Israel, and Kareem, and a host of grandchildren in Brooklyn, NY. Frank and Effie relocated to Fredericksburg, VA in 2007, where they lived and enjoyed extended family.
Sickness began to weaken Frank in 2019. He fought hard to recover but his illness succumbed to his demise on May 11, 2020. Frank was an avid believer in God and will be dearly missed.
