Frank Richard Baur's Obituary
Frank Richard Baur of Brookneal, Virginia passed away on December 5, 2022, at the age of 82.
He was born on June 22, 1940. The only child of Frank Michael and Sarah Lockley Baur of Danbury Connecticut.
He entered the United States Navy at the age of 17. While in the navy he learned to be a machinist which became his lifelong career.
Frank lived in various places throughout Virginia but eventually made his way back to Danbury where he met and married his wife, Diane. They moved to Fredericksburg VA and then made their home in Brookneal.
Frank was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family and friends. Frank was an animal lover, too. While in the Fifth Chapter Motorcycle Club he did a lot of charity work, and he sponsored others through his own recovery and sobriety.
Frank was preceded in death by his loving parents, Frank M., and Sarah L. Baur; a son, Frank Matthew Baur, and a step-granddaughter, Kaitlynn Knapp.
He left behind his loving wife, Diane; his two daughters Tammy Simpson (Frank) and Tracy Taylor (Rick); two stepsons Karl Knapp (Diane) and Claudio Mendes; one stepdaughter Tracey Knapp; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; one dog, Diesel, and two cats Momma and Zimba (aka Cookie).
Frank’s family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday December 12, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
Frank will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. In place of flowers, expressions of condolences can be made by a donation to your local SPCA or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in honor of Frank.
