Francis James Daly
Francis James Daly age 84, passed away on June 15, 2009 at Potomac Hospital.
Francis was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on May 28, 1925. He was an educator and WWI veteran. Francis taught history at Brentsville District High School from 1953-1960. He was an assistant principal at Marsteller Middle School and a principal at Dean Middle school. Francis served in Europe during the WWI from St. Lo to Belgium, Holland, France and Germany from 1943-1945. He received a bronze star for rescuing three wounded soldiers from a minefield in Germany. Francis returned to the U.S. on the Queen Mary ship. He was educated at American International College of Springfield, Massachusetts where he received a B.A. degree,then he attended the University of Miami, in Florida where he received a M.A. degree. Francis married Jane Cole in December 1955. She passed away in January 1986.
Survivors include a son, Allen Daly of Arizona; a daughter, Lori Daniel of Dumfries, VA; three grand children, Coley Daly, Thomas Daly and Faith Daniel; one sister in law, Rachel C. VanWart of Houston, TX
The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 17, 2009 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday June 18, 2009 at 10:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA 20110. Interment to follow at Valley View Cemetery, Nokesville, VA
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter at 11240 Waples Mill Road, Suite 402, Fairfax, VA 22030
