Francis Joseph Stastny III's Obituary
Francis Joseph Stastny III, 67, passed away on Monday, July 1,2019 at his home.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to his parents, Francis Stastny, Jr. and Mary Stastny. After graduating from college, he joined the US Navy and retired after 20 years of service, retiring as a Petty Officer First Class. Francis enjoyed many sports including golf, frisbee, and baseball. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Detroit Tigers. His hobby was building model cars, which he enjoyed immensely.
Francis is survived by his wife of 45 years, Teresa Stastny; two sons, Joseph Stastny (Linda) and Benjamin Stastny (Jessica), both of Spotsylvania County; a brother; Tim Stastny (Jeaneen) of Texas; and his sister, Margaret Fineberg (Dan) of Florida. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Martha Claxton (Chris) of Pennsylvania; as well as three grandsons; Caleb Allen, Jourden Boterf, and Spencer Boterf, all of Spotsylvania; three great-grandchildren, Madison Claxton, Ava Claxton, and Lillian Claxton; and many other family members and close family friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Veronica Stastny; and great-grandson, Augustus Johnson.
Francis’ family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Quantico National Cemetery with military honors.
