Francis Silas' Obituary
Francis D. Silas, Jr., 83, of Fredericksburg former FBI agent died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at his home.
Mr. Silas was born February 14, 1924 in Macon, Georgia.
Mr. Silas served in the US Navy from December 1942 to January 1946. He lived a large part of his early life in Florida graduating from the University of Miami in 1949 with a BS in Chemistry and later received a MS in Forensic Science from George Washington University.
He served the FBI in Chicago, Louisville, Cincinnati area, Tampa and Washington, D.C. At the time of his retirement, Mr. Silas was a Section Chief in the FBI laboratory.
Mr. Silas is survived by his wife of 57 years, Katherine; a son, John Silas of Warrenton; a daughter, Amy Curran of Fredericksburg; a grandson, Scott Musten; a great grandson, Zachary Musten and four great granddaughters, Sara Curran, Marion Silas, Caroline Silas and Janey Silas.
He was preceded in death by a son, Francis D. Silas, III and a daughter, Susan Latiolais.
