Frances R. Varela's Obituary
Frances R. Varela, 73, of Fredericksburg passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Frances retired from the federal government after 20 years in 2004. She had worked at the Marine Corp Base in Quantico as a voucher examiner before her retirement.
Frances is survived by her husband of 39 years, Roger Frank Varela, Jr.; a daughter, Felicia Woolf and her husband, Michael J. of Manassas; a brother, James Maggard and his wife, Pat of Southwest, VA; and two grandchildren, Ashton Woolf of Richmond and Austin Woolf of Lynchburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Worley and Mildred Maggard; and a brother, Robert Maggard.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at St. Matthias United Methodist Church, 426 Deacon Road, Fredericksburg with the Rev. Pat B. Tony officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Frances’ family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Matthias United Methodist Church Building Fund, 426 Deacon Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405 or the SPCA of Fredericksburg, 10819 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
