Frances Louise Rosenberg's Obituary
Frances Louise Leavell Rosenberg, 96, of Culpeper died August 3, 2024 at her home. She was born December 29, 1927 to Welton and Agnes Leavell in Culpeper, Virginia.
Frances attended local schools and went to work for the telephone company in town. It was while working there that she met Richard Rosenberg, who walked past the phone company to and from work at his father’s shoe and clothing store, Rosenberg’s, on East Davis Street. The two married in 1951. Frances worked as bookkeeper when Richard took over the store, and later worked in the business office of Culpeper Memorial Hospital, from which she retired. Frances and Richard loved dancing together, and even offered lessons at home in the early 1960’s. They participated many times in the Follies put on to benefit the local hospital. Frances was a lover of reading, of jigsaw puzzling, of cooking good food and sharing it with her family. Her decades saw many changes in the world, but her love for her family was steadfast, always.
Frances is survived by her four children, Karen Rosenberg Myers (Rick), Bonnie Rosenberg Hauge (Bobby), Steven C. Rosenberg (Debi), and Mitchell T. Rosenberg (Betsy); grandchildren Heather (Andy), Danielle, and Aaron Rosenberg (Shannon); Alexis Hanson (Mike), Sara Iqbal (Danny), Ashton Hauge and Justine Hauge, and Lisa House Whitcomb (Lee) and David House (Jamie); and several great-grandchildren, Katherine, Eli, Sam, David, and Michael Whitcomb; Kyndall and Ronan House; Grayson Iqbal; and Alice Charlotte Rose Hanson.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery, Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
