Frances Hitt Roberts' Obituary
Frances Hitt Roberts, of Culpeper, died on April 23, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born on November 28,1926 in Orange County, and was the daughter of the late Horace and Minnie Ryder Hitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Shelton Roberts, daughter, Carolyn Roberts Davies and brother, Charles Hitt.
Surviving are her sons, Gary Steven Roberts (Bernice), Lewis Gregory Roberts (Beatrice), and Kevin Ray Roberts (Michelle); two grandsons, Jeremy Kevin (Christy) and Steven Byram Roberts; and one great-granddaughter, Alleigh Rose Roberts.
Frances lived most of her life in Culpeper County and ran several antique shops during that time. She loved a good auction and enjoyed her doll collection. In her earlier years, she often could be found repairing furniture or mending antique dolls. Her later years were spent as a resident at Dogwood Village of Orange, where she enjoyed playing Bingo, coloring and visiting with her roommate. Frances always enjoyed receiving fresh flowers sent to her on holidays, especially roses.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler St, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Dan Carlton officiating.
