Frances White Rhodes' Obituary
Frances White Rhodes, 81, of Lignum died Monday, January 9, 2012 at Culpeper Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Rhodes was born in Albemarle County, VA at Schuyler on May 8, 1930 to the late Chapman White and Mary Trasila White, she was the youngest of eight children.
Mrs. Rhodes was secretary for Wingfield Hamlet and Spitzer, Attorneys- at- law in Charlottesville. Then was secretary at Naval Weapons and Training Station at Patuxent River, MD, and was mail clerk at State Farm Automobile Ins. Co. in Charlottesville, VA. Later she was secretary to the vice-president of the senior league of Moore Golf Youth Recreation Center at Inlet, VA for seven years. Then was secretary for Battlefield Babe Ruth District Baseball Inc. 16-18 year olds for 16 years and was treasurer of same for 9 years. Mrs. Rhodes was married to John Lloyd Rhodes, Sr. on December 1, 1951. Mrs. Rhodes served the Lord and was a member of the Stevensburg Baptist Church, one of her greatest achievements, second only to serving the Lord, was raising her eight children.
She was blessed with her daughters, Brenda Lee Clark and her husband, Thomas C. Clark, Jr. of Culpeper, Janice R. Dean and her husband, Marion D. “Johnny” Dean of Richardsville, Melinda R. Cook and her late husband, Harry Cook, Jr. of Culpeper, Joyce R. Jenkins and her former husband, Ronnie Jenkins of Culpeper, Frances Eileen Sisk and her husband, James Anthony “Tony” Sisk of Reva, and Lois Irene Dunbar of Lexington Park, MD. Also blessing her are her sons, John Lloyd Rhodes, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Lignum and Dale Patrick Rhodes, Sr. and his wife Phyllis of Lignum. She also leaves 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lloyd Rhodes, Sr. and her seven siblings.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 6 to 8p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, Culpeper with Pastor Philip Walker officiating.
The family will be serving as pallbearers.
Interment will follow at 2p.m. at Monticello Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701 &/or Stevensburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 41, Stevensburg, VA 22741.
