Frances Louise Lacy's Obituary
Frances Louise Lacy, 82, peacefully transitioned on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Waldorf, Maryland. She was born April 5, 1943, in Washington, DC to the late Arthur and Mary Catherine Brown.
Frances was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church but also attended First Baptist Church in Merrifield VA. She was a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family. She was a loving mother who always made sure everyone around her had what they needed, offering comfort, support, and kindness in every way she could.
Frances found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing cards, cooking meals for those she cared about, and watching sports, especially her favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. She especially cherished time spent at church, attending family gatherings, and listening to music. Her warmth, generosity, and love for her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her.
Frances is survived by her son, Glenn Lacy (Colette); grandchildren, Jonathan Lacy (Nichole), Janiece Lacy, Stacee Lacy, Cory Lacy and Timothy Lacy, Jr.; siblings Barbara Jean Brown, Elizabeth Davis, Mary Cottoms, Arthur Milton Brown, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Arlene Whitmer (William); daughter-in-law, Sedalia Lacy and a host of additional family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her children, Michael Lacy, Gwendolyn Bryant and Timothy Lacy; Siblings, Constance Gaskins, Alice Turner, Dorothy Smith, Shirley Robinson, Edith Menefee, Michelle Brown; brothers-in-law, William Cottoms, Robert Turner, Thomas Gaskins, Richard Robinson, Sr. and James Smith, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, Brandy Station, VA on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, 5542 Jeffersonton Rd, Jeffersonton, VA.
