Floyd Manley Hicks' Obituary
Floyd Manley Hicks, 79, of Culpeper died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at his residence. He was born on March 5, 1929 in Lignum, VA to the late Peter and Bertha Hicks. He was the 13th child out of 14 in his family.
Mr. Hicks worked for over 36 years as a meat cutter with Acme Markets. He enjoyed working outdoors and farming.
He is survived by his seven children, Linda Ingle of Summit Point, WV, Floyd Hicks of Summit Point, W.V, Michael Hicks of Berkley Springs, WV, Elaine Ingle of Mechanicsville, MD, Patricia Snead of Pembroke Pines, FL, Peter Hicks of Lebanon, VA, and Bertha “Sissy” Hicks of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include his siblings, Jimmy Hicks of Copal, TX, Dorothy Thomas of Colonial Beach, VA, Christine Kirby of Arlington, VA and Johnny Hicks of Lorton, VA, stepsons, Donnie Johnston, Franklin Johnston, and Russell Burke, a special grandson that he helped raise, William Douglas Hicks, 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mae B. Hicks, and siblings, Polly Werngren, Frances Marsh, Jean Walker, William Hicks, Alfred Hicks, Douglas Hicks, Peter Hicks, Jr., Elizabeth Gallahan and Lanetta Hicks.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Miller officiating.
Interment will follow in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Denzel McClung, Carl Ingle, John Pierce, Josh Hicks, William Hicks, James Barrow, Christopher Ingle and Peter Hicks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Family Care Home Health and Hospice, 610 Laurel St., Suite 210, Culpeper, VA 22701.
