Flossie Imogene Powell's Obituary
Flossie “Jannie” Powell, 83, of Spotsylvania County passed away at her home on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Jannie was a loving wife, mother and caregiver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Alvin Powell; her stepson, Alvin Brooks; and her mother, Delia B. Smith.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her seven daughters, Connie Champ of Spotsylvania, Brenda Brent and husband Frank of Spotsylvania, Jackie Gordon of Lexington, Ky., Hulda Elswick of Denver, N.C., Ruby Cooper and husband Brad of Spotsylvania, Imogene “Deanie” Wood and husband John “Billy” of Spotsylvania, with whom she made her home, and Amy Ennis and husband Charles of Caroline County. Affectionately known as Nannie Powell, she is also survived by 19 grandchildren, numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Burial will follow at Mine Road Baptist Church cemetery in Spotsylvania.
Memorial donations may be made in Jannie’s name to a breast cancer or disabled veterans’ charity of your choice.
