Florine Jenkins Hitt's Obituary
Florine Jenkins Hitt, 83, formerly of Culpeper died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Madison. She was born August 19, 1928 in Rappahannock County to the late Cooper and Bessie Hampton Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Edward Hitt.
Mrs. Hitt was a member of Alum Springs Baptist Church for 46 years and a current member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. She retired from Aileens as a seamstress after 17 years. She enjoyed gardening her vegetables and flowers and loved to cook; anyone who visited never walked away hungry.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Kay Cubbage of Louisa and Diane Faye Hitt Frazier and her husband, Michael Dean of Boston, her six grandchildren: Lorie Lynn Meredith and her husband, Mike, Heather Elizabeth Cubbage, Rebecca Noel Cubbage, Patrick Ryan Cubbage, Michael Dean Frazier, Jr. and Matthew Aaron Frazier, and three great grandchildren: Savana Grace Meredith, Gavin Bradley Meredith and Grayson Michael Meredith.
She is also survived by five siblings: George Jenkins, Virginia Winn, Ethel Wayland, Anna Covington and Mary Tovar and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Dolly Fincham, and four brothers, John, Ashby, Irvin and Jesse Jenkins.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Dallas Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church Building Fund, 19 Scrabble Rd., Boston, VA 22713.
